Technically Urban Caribou Bed and Breakfast has been open since July 1st but today marks our first official booking. There were a number of little things to wrap up prior to the space being ready for guests – washing bedding and towels, arranging rooms, and hanging curtains to name a few. We spent this past weekend cleaning, tidying, and generally readying our world for operating a bed and breakfast.
It is a surreal feeling – we toiled every night banging nails in the bed and breakfast after the boys were off to bed and lunches were packed and now tonight there is nothing left to do. (That’s not actually true, there are always things to do, but we are taking a well deserved night off). Below is a sneak peek at our handy work, the B&B is being photographed professionally later this week and we will use those photos to showcase the space on our website.
I’m equal parts excited and nervous to become an innkeeper. I’m proud of what we have accomplished thus far (launching our first business and completing the renovation while balancing family life and full time jobs) but anxious about what we are getting ourselves into. When you live with long term tenants you get used to their habits and schedules. Hosting guests will be different. We get to meet new people all the time though! New people with new stories to share about their travels around this wonderful world.
So it is with tempered optimism that we boldly begin operating our very own Bed and Breakfast. Drop us a line, and as we say at Urban Caribou Bed and Breakfast – Let us help you plan your next Yukon Adventure.
